Recently I heard someone wise expound upon the importance of the verse, “we overcome by the blood of the lamb and the word of our testimony.”
I think I have always thought of my testimony as the singular event when I became a Christian.
When asked to share your “testimony”, —such a Christian word—- you usually think about when you got saved and your story is probably pretty short, unless your life has been really exciting. Mine has not. My “testimony” is a short, church girl one; definitely no blockbuster hit.
I think you may feel the same way.
But your testimony is actually much, much larger than that, or it should be.
Your testimony is your whole life since you met Jesus. Your testimony should be every day, every good thing God has done. We should all be sharing our testimonies all the time.
It seems as though we are more consumed with sharing our struggles than we are our testimonies. However, Jesus clearly tells us that if we want to overcome, we need to share what the lord has done in our lives!
To that end, God has been so exceedingly good to me in my life and sadly sometimes I think I should share less because people are tired of hearing about it but you know what, that’s a lie from the pit of hell!
God has given me an incredible family, and an absolutely amazing and wonderful and all around spectacular husband. This was something I prayed for for years and God not only answered my prayers, he exceeded them! I remember reading so many stories as a teenager and young adult, and the tales of men and women who waited for God’s best inspired me to stay strong and wait patiently.
Do you have an amazing husband or wife that you know is provision from the Lord?? Tell people about it!
What has God delivered you from?
How has he revealed himself in deeper ways to you?
Are your children an answer to prayer?
Did God miraculously provide you a vehicle or a home?
He deserves to be given credit and given credit with enthusiasm!
We’ve hidden our testimonies and only shared our trials for too long. There’s a time and a place for everything, to be sure, and we need to encourage each other when we are down, but imagine if scrolling through Facebook was just a continuous stream of testimonies of what God has done!
What’s your testimony?
